Rock Hill, S.C. – Brookelynn Thomas has been named the Big South Conference Player of the Week for matches played Oct. 2-8, announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Thomas led the Eagles in their two road matches this past weekend with 29 kills (2.90 per set), nine digs (0.90), seven blocks (0.70), 35.5 points (3.55 per set), and an overall hitting percentage of .386. She recorded 15 kills and a .290 clip, plus five blocks, four digs, and two service aces in a 3-2 victory at Charleston Southern on Friday. Thomas then hit .500 on 14 kills against one error, in addition to five digs and two blocks in another 3-2 match victory, this time at previously undefeated Presbyterian College. She turned in season highs for kills, aces and digs during the weekend.
This is the second time in her Winthrop career that Thomas has earned Big South Player of the Week honors and her first since Oct. 24, 2022.
Thomas is Winthrop's 67th all-time Big South Player of the Week recipient and is the second time this season an Eagle has taken home the Player of the Week honor, with the most recent winner being
Karli Shepherd on Sept. 18.
