Lauren Charlton has been named the Big South Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week while teammate
Alexis Taylor is the Big South Conference Women's Cross Country Freshman of the Week for meets ran Oct. 5-8, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Charlton was the Eagles' top runner at the Royal Challenge on the campus of Queens University in Charlotte, N.C. this past Friday, finishing 10th with a time of 18:07 while Taylor had the third-best time for the Eagles with a time of 19:56, finishing 106
th.
This is the first women's cross country runner of the week winner since
Olivia Kemp on Oct. 12, 2022 and the ninth all-time.
Since the Conference starting awarding a Freshman of the Week honor in 2021, Taylor becomes Winthrop's first-ever recipient of this honor.
