- A win would give the Eagles their first 2-0 start at home since 2013

- McCrea ranks 8th in the Big South in points per game and tied for 4th in assists per game

- Izzy Giarrizzi leads the Big South with a .50 goals against average and is second in save percentage (.909)
- Giarrizzi joined Beth McGeachie as the only Winthrop goalkeeper to pitch a shutout in a season opener on the road
- McGeachie and the Eagles did that in the program's inaugural game on Aug. 30, 2003 in a 3-0 win at South Carolina State
- It was also the Eagles first shutout in a season opener since 2013 (1-0 win over Wofford)
- Looking to win home opener in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history
- Fourteen players and five starters return from the 2021 squad
- The top four scorers from a year ago are gone from a team that had 12 different players score at least one goal

- Sophomore Emma Smith is the top returning scorer (2g, 1a) as she came off the bench in all 15 games she appeared
