Rock Hill, S.C. –Winthrop cruised to a 3-0 win over Radford Saturday afternoon to improve to 2-0 in the Big South.

How it Happened
Set 1 | It was back-and-forth for most of the set until the Eagles pulled away late.
Alayna Jansky started off the scoring with a kill, but Radford scored the next two to take the lead. The set was tied 6-6 when Radford went on a 4-1 run to take a 10-7 lead. The Eagles bounced back with a 4-0 run to regain the lead 11-10. The set was tied for the 10
th and final time at 14-14 when the Eagles opened up a 19-14 lead. The run was capped off with a service ace from
Avery Jolley. The Eagles went on to take the set 25-17.
Brookelynn Thomas led with six kills while Jansky had four.
Set 2 | The Eagles dominated the set with a hitting percentage of .407, four service aces and six blocks. The set was tight in the early going and tied at 2-2. Then the Eagles went on a 5-0 run behind a couple of kills from Thomas. Then Winthrop used another 5-0 run to open up an 11-3 lead.
Karli Shepherd led the way with two kills in the run and Thomas had an ace. The lead grew to double-digits at 15-5 after a kill by Jolley. The Eagles ended the set scoring nine of the final 10 points to claim the set 25-6. Jolley led the Eagles with four kills while Shepherd and Jansky had three kills.
Set 3 | Eagles opened the third set with a 3-1 run. It was a 5-4 lead when the Eagles scored 10 straight to open up a double-digit lead. It started with three straight attacking errors by Radford and then an ace from
Isabella Murray. Murray had two more aces during the 10-0 run. Winthrop went on to finish off the match with a 25-10 win in the set, capped off by a Jansky kill on match point. Eagles had six aces in the set as Murray had three, Jansky two and
Madison Gorniak had one.

Winthrop is on the road for its next two contests as it will travel to High Point on Friday, Sept. 30 for a 6 p.m. matchup. Then on Saturday, Oct. 1 the Eagles will head to Buies Creek, N.C. for a 2 p.m. contest with Campbell.
