ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop volleyball earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 season, the association announced Monday afternoon. The Eagles earn the academic excellence honor for the ninth time in team history.
The program achieved a 3.6 team grade point average for the spring semester. Four players made the President's List with a 4.0, while eight others made the Dean's List with a 3.5 or higher.
Winthrop is one of more than 1,200 teams that earned this award. The award was initiated during the 1992-93 academic year and recognizes volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.
