WINTHROP AT A GLANCE
Winthrop is coming off a 7-8 (3-3 Big South) record in 2021. The Eagles welcome seven newcomers to the squad; the newcomers include six freshmen and sophomore transfer
Krystal Beebe from Division II Florida Southern.
Winthrop had two players named to the preseason Big South all-conference team as
Kimora Bailey was named preseason defensive player of the year and midfielder
Alyssa Angelo was also honored.
The Eagles were ranked fifth in the Big South preseason poll and are in their first season under new leadership as head coach
Kara Concheck was named to the post in January.
Winthrop traveled to East Carolina for their season opener and came away with a 17-7 loss, although the Eagles did take an early 3-1 lead. The Eagles then took on Kennesaw State on the road and took a 14-8 defeat. Winthrop then traveled to Stetson and was competitive in a 15-13 loss before a 20-9 netural-site loss to Davidson at Memorial Stadium in Charlotte this past Saturday.
SCOUTING YOUNGSTOWN STATE
The Youngstown State Penguins are 3-2 (1-0 Mid-American Conference) and are coming off an overtime win against Akron.
ALL-TIME AGAINST YOUNGSTOWN STATE
Tuesday's matchup is the first meeting between the teams.
