Rock Hill, S.C. — Winthrop suffered an 11-1 loss at Hampton in the final game of the weekend Big South series, Saturday afternoon.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Winthrop struck first in the game as Ella McGalliard walked and then scored on an RBI triple from Lauren Hutcherson
- Hampton took the lead with four unearned runs in the bottom of the first
- The first two batters reached on fielding errors, which allowed the first run to come across
- Pirates added three more runs in the second for a 7-1 lead
- Eagles loaded the bases with two outs in the third inning but Lauren Daniels hit into a fielder's choice as Hutcherson was out on the force play at third
EXTRA BASES
- Hutcherson finished the game 2-for-3, her third multi-hit game in league play and sixth on the season (2nd most on the team)
- Hutcherson has at least one hit in 7-of-9 league games
- Macy McCall had one hit on the day and is tied with Hutcherson with 11 hits in nine Big South games
ON DECK
The Eagles look to bounce back on Tuesday, Mar. 29 as they host Coastal Carolina in a doubleheader scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
