ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Winthrop women's lacrosse program will open their 2022 season on the road against East Carolina on Friday, Feb. 18. The contest is set to begin at 5 p.m.

WINTHROP AT A GLANCE
Winthrop is coming off a 7-8 (3-3 Big South) record in 2021. The Eagles welcome seven newcomers to the squad; the newcomers include six freshmen and sophomore transfer Krystal Beebe from Division II Florida Southern.

Winthrop had two players named to the preseason Big South all-conference team as Kimora Bailey was named preseason defensive player of the year and midfielder Alyssa Angelo was also honored.

The Eagles were ranked fifth in the Big South preseason poll and are in their first season under new leadership as head coach Kara Concheck was named to the post in January.

SCOUTING EAST CAROLINA
The East Carolina Pirates are 1-0 so far this season as they defeated fellow Big South member Radford 13-4 in their opener. ECU welcomes eight new members to a team that finished 4-12 (2-8 American Athletic Conference) last season. The Pirates saw three different players notch three goals in the season opener while Megan Tryniski led the way overall with two goals and three assists.
 
ALL-TIME AGAINST EAST CAROLINA
The teams have played twice with each side notching one victory. The Pirates won the last matchup 13-12 on Feb. 8, 2019.
