Auburn, Ala.– Redshirt-sophomore Toneari Lane scored a career-high 18 points to lead Winthrop in its 89-65 loss at 13
th-ranked Auburn, Tuesday evening at Neville Arena.

- Eagles were on the board first as Kelton Talford boarded a miss and then made a move to the basket and finished with a layup
- Auburn responded with a step back three from Zep Jasper that sparked a 12-0 run
- A stick back by Michael Moore off a miss off the drive by Kasen Harrison ended the run
- Following a Johni Broom bucket inside, Toneari Lane drilled a corner three to cut the deficit in half at 14-7 with 15:17 left
- Auburn pushed its lead back to double-digits at 17-7 after a Chance Westry three
- Lane hit another three to start a 7-2 run that pulled the Eagles within five points at 20-15 with 8:57 on the clock
- Another stick back from Talford had the Eagles within 26-20 with 4:50 left in the half
- Tigers worked their way to a 13-point advantage at the break behind threes from Wendell Green Jr. and K.D. Johnson
- Eagles hit just 31 percent from the floor while Auburn shot 41 percent
- The Eagles were 4-of-11 from three, but 4-for-9 at the line
SECOND HALF
- Talford scored off a drive for the first points of the second half
- Auburn responded with a 7-0 run by threes from Flanigan and Jasper
- Tigers led 58-33 when they went on a 6-0 spurt for a 64-33 lead with 13:26 remaining
- Over the final 13 minutes of the game the Eagles outscored the Tigers 30-25
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Winthrop shot 36 percent from the field and just 6-of-21 behind the arc
- Auburn finished the game at 47 percent after shooting 53 percent in the second half
- After going 4-for-9 at the line in the first half, the Eagles finished the game 15-of-23
- Points off turnovers favored the Eagles 13-12 as the Eagles finished with 11 turnovers and Auburn had eight
- Tigers had a 53-33 advantage on the boards and 25-16 edge on the offensive glass
