HAMPTON, Va. – Looking for their first conference victory of the season, the Winthrop women's basketball team battled hard early and late, but ultimately fell 80-64 to Hampton.

How it Happened
First Quarter | Winthrop took an early lead, but the homestanding Pirates came back and things were close from there throughout the first quarter. The period ended with Hampton holding a slim 16-15 lead.
Second Quarter | Hampton quickly took a six-point lead and started raining threes from the outside, giving themselves a double-digit lead. The Eagles continued to battle hard but were unable to keep up and trailed by 15 at the break.
Third Quarter | Both teams played hard during the third period and Winthrop showed a lot of fight, but the Pirates kept their foot on the gas and increased their lead to 19 heading into the final quarter.
Fourth Quarter | The Eagles played extremely well and cut the lead to 11 points halfway through the fourth quarter, but Hampton played well down the stretch and cruised to the 16-point victory.
