Clinton, S.C. – Patrick Good scored a game-high 31 points to help Winthrop hold on for a 60-58 road win at Presbyterian College, Thursday night in Big South men's basketball action.

FIRST HALF
- Both teams struggled offensively out of the gate but the Blue Hose worked their way to an 18-7 lead with 9:22 left
- The lead went to double-figures for the Blue Hose following a Winthrop turnover as Zeb Graham drained a pull-up three
- Eagles began the game 3-of-13 from the floor to help PC build its 11-point advantage which was short lived s Kelton Talford boarded a miss and scored
- Then Talford came away with a steal that led to a three from Patrick Good to quickly cut the deficit in half
- PC was able to push its lead back to double-figures with 6:43 left at 22-12, but the Eagles carved their way to a four-point deficit at the break thanks to a couple of threes from Good
- A free throw by Cory Hightower had the Eagles within two points with 36 seconds left but Rayshon Harrison scored off the drive with 20 seconds left for a 24-20 lead at the break
SECOND HALF
- Hightower opened the half getting the foul line and went 1-of-2 to make it a one possession game but it set the tone early as the Eagles quickly took a 25-24 lead as D.J. Burns Jr. scored on back-to-back possessions
- The teams traded baskets but then PC grabbed a two-possession lead and pushed the lead to 34-28, but Winthrop responded to keep the game close
- Good knocked down a pull-up jumper to get it started and then he knocked down a three to make it a one-point game with 12:13 left in the game
- The lead changed hands a couple more times but the Eagles took a 39-36 lead with 8:29 left as Burns came away with a steal and Good scored on the other end
- The Blue Hose responded as Marquis Barnett dropped an open trey to tie the game at 39-39 with 7:43 remaining
- Following free throws by Barnett with 7:02 left, the Eagles wasted little time as Burns Jr. found Hightower at the rim for the layup and the lead
- Eagles got a defensive stop as Good dribbled up the court and knocked down a straight away three for a 46-41 advantage
- Harrison missed the front end of a one-and-one with 4:54 to play as the Eagles boarded the miss and Micheal Anumba scored off the drive on the other end for a seven point lead at 50-43
- Following a shot clock violation by the Eagles with 4:02 left, the Blue Hose took advantage as Kobe Stewart connected on a three from the left wing
- The Eagles turned the ball over on the ensuing possession that led to a Winston Hill layup and the foul with 3:12 left
- Hill made the free throw for the three-point play to make it a one point game
- Winthrop went on top by four with 2:23 left as Russell Jones Jr. drilled a straight away three
- After PC cut the lead back to two points, the Eagles took advantage of an offensive rebound as Anumba found Good open at the top as he drained another triple for a 56-51 lead with 1:18 to play
- Hill went to the line with 1:03 to play as he made the first and despite missing the second Trevon Reddish-Rhone boarded the miss and was fouled on the put back
- Reddish-Rhone made both free throws with 1:02 left to make it a two-point game
- Winthrop turned the ball over on its next possession but PC was unable to convert as the Eagles boarded the miss and Good was fouled with 25.3 seconds left
- Good made both free throws for the 58-54 lead
- The Blue Hose ran a play out of a timeout that set up a three for Hill but the shot was well short
- Barnett chased down the miss before it went out of bounds and that led to a straight away three by Harrison to make it a one point game
- Good was fouled with five seconds left as he made both for a three-point advantage
- The Eagles chose to foul PC on the inbound as Barnett went to the line with 3.8 seconds left but missed both free throws
- Talford had a chance to make it a two possession game with 2.8 seconds left but missed both and PC had a chance as Hill rebounded the miss but his heave at half court was off the mark
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Winthrop finished the game shooting 47 percent while holding the Blue Hose to 39 percent from the floor
- After shooting 40 percent in the first half the Eagles shot 62 percent in the second half
- Eagles were 8-of-18 from three while PC finished 6-for-21
- Winthrop committed a season-high 20 turnovers in the game while forcing PC into 13 turnovers
- Points off turnover were close as the Blue Hose held a 22-18 edge
- Battle of the boards was even at 31-31 as the Blue Hose had a 9-6 advantage in offensive rebounds
- Eagles received a season-low eight points from their bench
NOTABLES
- Winthrop captured its fifth straight win of the season and eighth straight regular season league win
- It was also the 13th straight road win in conference play
- Good enter the game 37 points away from 1,000 in his career and finished with 31 for his second game this season with 30 or more points
- Good also surpassed 250 career threes as he was 7-for-11 from three and now has 252
- Eagles improved to 22-1 in their last 23 games in the month of January
- For the third straight season the Eagles are off to a 4-0 start in the Big South
