Dan Ruyle Named Interim Women's Golf Coach

Rock Hill, S.C. – With Winthrop head women's golf coach Kasay Gambrell is on maternity leave, Dan Ruyle has been named interim women's golf coach, announced Friday afternoon.
 
Ruyle brings a wealth of experience coaching at the collegiate level, most recently as an assistant coach for the men's team at East Carolina University from 2017 until this past spring. Ruyle has also spent time as a volunteer coach with men's team at the University of North Carolina. He got his start in coaching collegiate golf as the men's and women's head golf coach with a successful career at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Tex. where he led those two programs for 15 seasons.
 
"I'm very appreciative of Hank Harrawood and Coach Gambrell for giving me this opportunity," said Ruyle. "They, along with Coach Kevin Pendley, have been very helpful in the transition process. I'm excited to use my 21 years of collegiate coaching experience to help these young ladies be their very best."
 
Ruyle assumes the head coaching duties immediately as the women's golf team opens its fall season Sept 12 at the Golfweek Fall Challenge in Pawleys Island, S.C.
