th time as the Eagles have dropped three of the last four meetings. This will be the Eagles fourth trip in the last five meetings to Boiling Springs, N.C. for this matchup. The Eagles have lost three straight trips to Gardner-Webb with the last win coming in 2017, 2-1.

- The last time Winthrop and Gardner-Webb met the two teams battled to a scoreless tie, which was the first draw in the history of the series
- Izzy Giarrizzi has recorded a career-high eight saves in each of the back-to-back shutouts
- Giarrizzi ranks 4th in the league in shutouts and 5th in save percentage
- Freshman Valentina Mosquera leads the team in scoring at 0.83 points per game and 10th in the league
- Winthrop is tied for fourth in the league in scoring while Gardner-Webb is tied for 7th
- This will be the 340th game in Winthrop women's soccer program history
- Spencer Smith is in his 12th season as head coach and is coaching in his 199th game for the Eagles

Laurin Uptegrove and
Bella Hovis have been named team captains for the 2021 season. Both Uptegrove (43 career games) and Hovis (42 career games) have been regulars either off the bench or in the starting lineup in their first three seasons.

Jessica Gengler – Defensive Player of the Week
- Scored the game-winning goal (golden goal) in the 3-2 win over Alabama State in the season opener
- Played outside back in the game as she netted her first collegiate goal
Emma Smith – Freshman of the Week
- Came off the bench to score the team's second goal for a 2-0 lead
- Played a total of 40 minutes in the game, including starting the second half
