  • The Eagles held a 7-4 advantage in shots in the first half with each team getting two on goal
  • Valentina Mosquera created the best opportunity for either team in the 47th minute when she attacked the goal inside the box from an angle and tried to play a ball in front that was snagged in the air by goalkeeper Jillian Hall
  • Whitney Edwards-Roberson chased down a long ball for VMI in the 54th minute and as an Eagle defender closed in, she cut back and fired a low shot that was handled by Izzy Giarrizzi to keep the slate clean
  • In the final seconds of regulation, Abbie McRae received a clearance and raced down the right side of the field
  • McRae then got a step on the VMI defender as she cut toward goal and dribbled into the 18-yard box and then tried to chip the keeper to the far post but the shot just sailed over the bar

  • VMI took advantage of a short clearance by the Eagles as Maria Vargas possessed it and slipped a ball behind the Winthrop defense
  • Riley Flanagan ran on to the ball with Erika Brown on her left shoulder and as Lily Meisten closed in, Flanagan cut back to her right to avoid Meisten and just slipped a shot by the defenders and Giarrizzi for the golden goal
