ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Winthrop baseball season came to an end after splitting the twin bill with Presbyterian Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Colten Rendon pitched into the 9
th inning of Game 1, striking out eight batters but ultimately dropping the contest, 7-6.
Spencer Yankle and
Joe McNamara both hit solo home runs in the narrow defeat.
Game 2 went 11 innings, with the Eagles battling back from an early 6-1 deficit to win 13-12.
Ryan Watson went yard in the bottom of the 9
th to send the game to extras. The Blue Hose put up two runs in the top of the 10
th but a Joseph-Szvetitz single tied things at 12 to keep the Eagles in it.
Jason Crumley came in in relief to make one last appearance as an Eagle, sitting PC down in order to keep the contest tied at 12. The winning run came home when
Drake Smith scored on a deep fly ball off the bat of
Joe McNamara.
Winthrop finishes the season 19-27 overall, with a 16-21 record against Big South opponents.
