Eagles Host Longwood Wednesday Evening At Eagle Field

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop lacrosse will return home, welcoming Longwood to town for a conference matchup on Wednesday, April 21. First draw is scheduled for 4 p.m.

EAGLES AT A GLANCE
The Eagles will return home for a contest against Longwood after dominating Presbyterian 21-7 last Wednesday.

With a career-high five caused turnovers at Presbyterian, Lauren Asher also grabbed herself a pair of goals helping the Eagles take the lead over the Blue Hose.

Going into the last two regular season games, Bianca Tedesco  is approaching the top four on the career assists leader board with 63. She has 27 on the season, leading the Big South. In last week's contest, she had a team and game-high four helpers.

Alyssa Angelo also had a career-high in last week's contest, winning five control draws along with a pair of goals.
  
 SCOUTING LONGWOOD
The Lancers are coming off their first Big South win of the season with a 12-11 home win over Gardner-Webb on April 17. 

In the win, Nicole Fordyce led the Lancers with four goals and delivered the game-winning goal that broke an 11-11 tie.

The Lancer backline is led by Hannah Tirrell, Rachel Abraham, and Lauren Cerretani who had a combined four caused turnovers and three ground balls against Gardner-Webb.

In Saturday's matchup, the Lancers led in ground balls by a margin of 19-13 and attempted 25 shots, causing nine turnovers.

Redshirt junior, Taylor Blenckstone is third in the Big South in assists per game averaging 1.67 with 20 on the season. She had one assist and one goal in Saturday's competition. Emma Johnson grabbed two goals for her eighth multi-goal game of the season.

Goalie Kylee Wright has started 10 games for the Lancers. She currently has a 2-9 overall record, with a .363 save percentage. The goalie made seven stops to pick-up her second win of the season.

Winthrop will remain home for the last contest of the regular season when they play host to Gardner-Webb on April 24. Prior to the 1 p.m. opening draw, the Eagles will recognize the 2021 graduating class; Olivia Deaver, McKenna Blick, Sara McGuire, Bianca Tedesco, Rachel Miller and Lauren Morris
