Eagles Score Season-High 21 Goals In Win Over Presbyterian Wednesday

CLINTON, S.C. – The Eagles scored a season-high 21 goals en route to a 14-goal, 21-7, win over Presbyterian Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Molly Dankowski got the scoring underway with a shot assisted by Lauren Asher.
  • Presbyterian knotted things up with a score of their own from Kelly Hyman.
  • The Eagles broke the game open with four unanswered goals to take a 5-1 lead.
  • Kara DiClemente broke the streak when she found the back of the net with 15:57 remaining in the half, 5-2.
  • Winthrop went on another offensive burst, with seven straight goals to take a 10-goal lead, 12-2.
  • Presbyterian's Kara DiClemente and Abby Edmisten went back-to-back less than a minute apart to make it a 12-4 contest.
  • Lauren Asher found the back of the net with 18 seconds remaining to take a 13-4 lead after 30 minutes.
  • Outside of the break, Kelly Hyman scored once again to make a 13-5 game.
  • Winthrop then scored three quick goals, two from Bianca Tedesco, to extend the Eagles' lead to 11, 16-5.
  • The scoring continued with another pair from Ellie Dutton and Madison Daziel to pull ahead 18-5.
  • Sarah Marshall found Madison Berg for a Presbyterian score to break Winthrop's scoring streak, 18-6.
  • Savanah Paton and Kara DiClemente exchanged goals to make it 19-7 with just over six minutes remaining in the contest.
  • Haley Prosser scored her first collegiate goal to make it a 20-7 game, a season high in goals for the Eagles.
  • Jamira Mashore found the back of the net for the final goal of the contest, giving Winthrop the 21-7 win.

Winthrop will return home for the last two contests of the regular season when they play host to Longwood on April 21 at 4 p.m. and Gardner-Webb on April 24 at 1 p.m.
