Volleyball Closes Out Season At UNC Ashveille Mar. 30-31

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop volleyball will wrap up the 2020-21 season with a road trip to UNC Asheville on Mar. 30-31. Tuesday's match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. with first serve of the season finale scheduled for 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Regardless of the outcome, the Eagles' season will come to an end following this series with Asheville. High Point has clinched the regular season title, earning the Big South's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

SERIES HISTORY
The Eagles and Bulldogs have met 72 times in history. Winthrop currently holds a 41-31 all-time series lead over UNC Asheville. The Bulldogs have won six of the last 10 meetings, although Winthrop swept the 2019 series, winning both matches.

WINTHROP EAGLES
Winthrop enters the season finale on a four-match win streak after putting up back-to-back sweeps over Radford and Presbyterian.

Going into the final series of the season, the Eagles lead the conference in digs, averaging 17.89 per set and are second in opponent hitting percentage (.132) and blocks (2.26).

Morgan Bossler leads the Eagles in hitting percentage (.311), blocks per set (1.11) and points per set (3.36).

The Eagles are currently tied with Campbell for 4th place in the conference with identical 9-5 overall records.

UNC ASHVILLE BULLDOGS
The Bulldogs are coming off back-to-back defeats to USC Upstate. The Spartans swept the Bulldogs 3-0 in both matches.

Grace Volk is averaging 8.14 assists per set, second most in the Big South and a team high. In the series against the Spartans, she surpassed 1,000 career assists.

Peyton McClinton currently leads the Bulldogs in kills, with 171 on the season, averaging 3.35 per set, which is good enough for 4th best in the Big South.

Kasey West is the team's service ace leader with 13 on the season and digs, with 161 going into the season finale.

West is a senior, as well as Cecilia Stack and will be recognized prior to the start of the Wednesday's match.
