Eagles Host PC In Final Homestand Mar. 25-26

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop volleyball welcomes the Presbyterian Blue Hose to the Winthrop Coliseum for its final homestand of the 2020-21 season on Mar. 25-26.
 
Thursday's match is scheduled for 6 p.m., while Friday's match will begin at 2 p.m. following a Senior Day recognition for Jessica Young and Emily Wunder. All of the action will be streamed on ESPN+.

SERIES HISTORY
Since 2007, the Eagles hold a 19-9 record over the Blue Hose. They have won seven of the last three meetings and are 10-3 while playing inside the Winthrop Coliseum.
 
WINTHROP EAGLES
Winthrop looks to stay hot, coming off back-to-back three-set sweeps over Radford and winning five of its last seven matches.
 
Olivia Blackketter earned Big South Freshman of the Week honors after her performance against the Highlanders. The freshman posted a .435 hitting percentage, 12 kills, 23 total attacks and seven blocks in the two big conference wins.
 
As a team, Winthrop tops the conference in digs, averaging 17.51 per set. The Eagles also crack the Top 3 in the conference in opponent hitting percentage (.152) and blocks per set (2.3).
 
Individually, the Eagles fall within the Top 5 in service aces, Isabel Schaefbauer averaging .39 per set, blocks, Morgan Bossler averaging 1.08 per set and assists with Jana Owens averaging 6.64 per set.
 
With a sweep over Radford, the Eagles to 7-5 on the season.
 
PRESBYTERIAN BLUE HOSE
The Blue Hose are coming off a road trip to Buies Creek where they dropped back-to-back matches to the Campbell Camels. PC will look to snap a six-game losing skid.
 
Despite its 2-10 record, Presbyterian tops some crucial categories. Anna Hewitt leads the league in total digs and digs per set with 242 and 5.0 respectively. Senior Allie Wright tops the Big South with 49 total blocks.
 
Both of Presbyterian's wins came on the road; a 3-1 win at Gardner-Webb and a hard-fought five-set match at Radford, 3-2.

BIG SOUTH SEASON & TOURNAMENT
The 2021 spring season will be a 16-match double round-robin slate spanning nine weeks from Feb. 3-April 2, with contests scheduled for consecutive days against the same opponent at the same location. This year's regular-season champion will earn the Big South's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
