GARDNER-WEBB SERIES HISTORY
Winthrop and Gardner-Webb meet for the 17
th time as the Eagles look to end a two-game skid against the Runnin' Bulldogs. The teams last met in the Big South Tournament quarterfinals in 2019 as Gardner-Webb won 2-1. When playing Gardner-Webb at home, the Eagles are 4-4.
GLANCE AT THE EAGLES
Winthrop looks to bounce back after suffering a 3-1 loss at Presbyterian College Thursday night. The Eagles are looking for their first home win of the season and fell 1-0 to Charleston Southern in their last home contest. The three goals in the loss to the Blue Hose were the most goals the Eagles allowed since the season opener (3-0 loss to High Point).
Eagles have six goals on the year with five different goal scorers as Lauren Uptegrove is the only one with multiple goals.
A victory by the Eagles would give them three league wins and move them closer to the Top 4 in the league standings.
This will mark the 330
th game in the history of the Winthrop program and 161
th regular season league contest. Head coach
Spencer Smith is coaching in his 189
th game for the Eagles. Winthrop is looking for a second straight season with a winning mark overall and league play. The Eagles were 8-7-1 2019 and sported a 6-3-1 league mark.
