SERIES HISTORY
The Highlanders currently lead the all-time series against the Eagles, 38-31. In recent seasons, the Eagles have struggled, winning just two of the last 10 meetings. Last season, these teams only met once, with Winthrop remaining undefeated in conference play and securing its first win over Radford since 2015, winning 3-1.
WINTHROP EAGLES
The Eagles are coming off back-to-back loses to the High Point Panthers.
Despite dropping both meetings to the Panthers, 3-1 and 3-0, Winthrop did snap the Panthers 25-set win streak with a third-set win in Match 1.
The Eagles enter the matchup with a 5-5 overall record, winning three of their last five games.
Jana Owens' 6.67 assists per set is good enough for third best in the conference, while
Leah Metzger's 4.64 digs per set is also third best in the Big South.
RADFORD HIGHLANDERS
The Highlanders are 3-7 entering the end-of-the-week series, dropping their last five contests. They are currently in sixth place in the Big South Conference.
Despite back-to-back loses to UNC Asheville, they battled to five sets in each match.
Radford's Kennedi Johnson is averaging 1.19 blocks per set, second best in the conference, while Grace Green's 3.16 digs per set cracks the Top 10 in the Big South.
BIG SOUTH SEASON & TOURNAMENT
The 2021 spring season will be a 16-match double round-robin slate spanning nine weeks from Feb. 3-April 2, with contests scheduled for consecutive days against the same opponent at the same location. This year's regular-season champion will earn the Big South's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
