HOW IT HAPPENED
High Point quickly took a 10-4 lead in the first set. Winthrop didn't quit fighting though, keeping within arms-reach of the lead.  The score became 21-18 off a High Point attack error, but four consecutive points after that, two off service errors, gave the Panther's the 25-18 win.

The Panthers put up four quick points to open the second set before Winthrop got on the board with a kil from Brookelynn Thomas. The Eagles made it a one-point set off a Nikkia Benitez kill, 5-4. A 6-0 run for the home team put them ahead, 16-7. That streak came to an end with an Alicia Davis kill out of the timeout. Another 4-0 run kept High Point well ahead, 20-9. The Panthers would take Set 2, 25-12, extending their set win streak to 25 in a row.

Set 3 was an absolute battle that saw 10 ties and three lead changes. High Point called timeout after back-to-back attack errors that gave them a 13-9 lead. Out of the timeout, the set continued to go back-and-forth. The Eagles tied things up at 20 off an attack error before winning the set 25-23, snapping High Point's set win streak.

The Eagles couldn't keep the momentum going in Set 4, with High Point jumping out to a 5-1 lead. Winthrop would hang in and keep things within two points but a 10-1 run for the Panthers gave them another commanding lead, 18-7. They would go on to win the set 25-11, and the match 3-1.
