FIRST HALF

- Six straight points by the Hawks had them in the lead but it was short lived after two D.J. Burns Jr. free throws
- The game was tied 8-8 with 15:50 left in the half when David Shriver drilled a three only to have the Eagles reel off six straight points for a 14-11 lead
- Winthrop built its largest lead of the first half as Cory Hightower boarded a miss and then scored while being fouled as he completed the three-point play
- Then Sin'Cere McMahon drove the lane and while in the air flipped a pass to Kelton Talford for a dunk and a seven point lead (28-21) with 7:37 left in the half
- Hartford responded with a 10-2 run to take a 31-30 lead with four and a half minutes left
- A Patrick Good three put an end to the run, pushing the Eagles back in the lead and also started a 7-0 run for a 38-31 lead with 2:17 left
- It was a one point lead for the Eagles after a Shriver three with 20 seconds left but Hightower splashed a three off a dish from Buggs with six seconds left for a 42-38 lead at the break
- Both teams shot the ball well as Hartford was 15-of-30 for 50 percent and the Eagles were 15-of-28 for 53 percent)
SECOND HALF
- Shriver hit a three to open the second half scoring and pulling the Hawks within a point at 42-41 but that was as close as they got the rest of the way
- Micheal Anumba ignited the Eagles in the early going of the half with his effort on the offensive glass
- After a D.J. Burns Jr. didn't fall, Anumba skied for the rebound that looked like a couple of players had their hands on the ball as he ripped it away and went up to score while being fouled on the stick back
- Anumba completed the three-point play and then after a missed free throw chased down the rebound in the corner while being fouled to give the Eagles another possession
- On the next Hartford possession the Winthrop defense forced a shot clock violation and on the ensuing possession Talford finished off a three-point play for a 53-46 lead with 15:26 left
- Eagles held a 2-3 possession lead over the next three and a half minutes until Hartford's Shriver scored off a turnover to make it a two point game
