How it Happened
First Quarter | J'Mani Ingram got the Eagles off to an excellent start as she made a layup on the first possession. The Braves went on a 13-0 run shortly afterward to take a double-digit lead, but Winthrop countered with seven quick points of their own, capped off by a Myra Strickland three pointer. Pembroke then made a jumper to extend the lead back to six points and carried that margin through the end of the first period.

Second Quarter | Sierra Hunter started the second quarter with a layup to get the Eagles within four, and the teams traded buckets for several minutes. Two Ally Ross free throws cut the margin to two with just less than seven minutes to go in the quarter, but the Braves gradually extended the lead, taking a 27-20 lead into the locker room.

Third Quarter | The Eagles roared out of the locker room on a 7-2 run to get back within a single basket and tied the contest at 29 on two free throws from Sydney Hunter. The teams see-sawed back and forth from there. With the game tied at 32, Pembroke went on a 10-0 run to seize the momentum. Winthrop then scored the final four points of the quarter to get within six at the end of the period.

Fourth Quarter | Winthrop stayed close early in the fourth quarter, drawing within five points on Luka Malinka's three pointer. Later, a Sydney Hunter and-one kept the Eagles within six at the 4:28 mark, but those were the last points of the game for the home team. The Braves ended the game on a 14-0 run, cruising to victory in the process.
