Fonda, Marceliussen-Dahl Pace Eagles On Opening Day Of Buccaneer Classic

Johns Island, S.C.— Sabrina Fonda and Emilie Marie Marceliussen-Dahl paced the Winthrop women's golf team on the opening day of the 2021 Buccaneer Classic Monday afternoon.

Course: Oak Point Golf Club | Par 72 (36-36) / 6,161 yards
Place (Winthrop): 11^th of 13 (610/+34)

Sabrina Fonda playing as an individual is the leader for the Eagles after 36 holes as she finished +6 on the day and is T30
The 1-over 73 was Fonda's lowest first round score of her collegiate career
Emilie Marie Marceliussen-Dahl posted a collegiate-low 74 in the first round and tied her second-best this fall in the second round with a 5-over 77 as she's T34
Sarah Funderburg and Valentine Savioz had similar days as the both opened with an 80 and followed that up with rounds of even par to sit T42 at 8-over
The both also birdied their final hole of the second round to finish at even par
Savioz tallied five birdies in her second round and a total of seven on the day
As a team the Eagles had a 14 stroke improvement in the second round, posting their first sub-300 round of the fall season
After going a combined +18 on the back nine in the morning, the Eagles cut that in half at +9 for the afternoon round
Winthrop's six golfers combined for 23 birdies over the first two rounds, 15 of which came on the back nine
Regan Clifford, Fonda and Funderburg led the Eagles in Par 3 scoring (+1)
Fonda and Funderburg led the team in Par 4 scoring (+3) while Marceliussen-Dahl led in Par 5 scoring (-4)
Marceliussen is tied for 3^rd lowest Par 5 scoring after 36 holes
