ROCK HILL, S.C.-  Winthrop men's and women's cross country will open the 2021 season on Friday, Jan. 29 hosting the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational. The men's 8k is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. followed by the women's 5k set for a 3:30 start.

ABOUT THE EAGLES
Winthrop women's cross country returns nearly two-thirds of its roster, which is made up of three freshmen, three sophomores, two juniors and two seniors. The team does return five of the six runners that competed in the 2019 Big South Championship in Olivia Esselman, Jesse Defalco, Kaytlyn Sweatman, Katie Weber and Addison Osteen. Adding to that experience is graduate Olivia Paxton, who returns to the program as a graduate transfer after competing as one of the top runners at William & Mary the past two seasons. THe Eagles were picked to finish 6th in the Big South preseason poll. 

Picked to finish 7th in the Big South preseason poll, Winthrop men's cross country features a young roster of four freshmen, three sophomores and two juniors. Will Metcalf-Shull (Jr.), Jake Lane (Jr.), Austin Landrum (So.), Jeremiah Boyd (So.) and Marvin Brooks (So.) bring the most experience to this year's squad.
