Winthrop Esports Announces Fall 2020 Roster, Addition of Rocket League

Rock Hill, S.C. – The fall 2020 Esports season is upon us, and with it comes the announcement of Winthrop's rosters for the fall season.  This fall the Eagles will compete in League of Legends, FPS, and Rocket League.

After a memorable inaugural campaign in both League of Legends and Overwatch, the program was able to expand the roster to included Rocket League for the upcoming season as well as transition Overwatch to playing more Valorant. Coach Josh Sides is excited to add the new games to the mix.

"I'm excited to add Rocket League and Valorant," Sides said. "Rocket League is such a well supported title in the collegiate competitive space, and I believe that Valorant, albeit very new, will see a high level of support as well. We want to be able to compete in these titles at the same high level we have become known for since last year."

While the addition of Rocket League will have many around the program excited, you could argue the most exciting part of the fall season will be the return of the majority of both Winthrop's League of Legends and FPS teams. Each of Winthrop's six League of Legends players returns for another season, while FPS returns seven of eight contributors from their spring 2020 squad.

"With our returning teams, League of Legends and FPS, we are all preparing with one goal in mind. To be ready to take that next step in the spring and to compete for national championships," Side stated.

The sky is the limit for Winthrop Esports in year two of the program.  Follow the Eagles on twitter (@WinthropEsports) and Instagram (@WinthropEsport) for game updates and team news.
