Winthrop Overwatch Ready To Begin 2020 Collegiate Championship

Rock Hill, S.C. – After nearly three weeks of no official competition, Winthrop Overwatch is back in action as they begin their run in the 2020 Overwatch Collegiate Championship.
 
The Eagles enter the tournament as a 2-seed and will face off against 15-seed Washington in the first round Saturday at 3:00 PM EST. If Winthrop advances, the rest of the tournament will take place Saturday evening and conclude on Sunday.
 
Like every sport in the country, Esports has felt the effects of the Coronavirus. The season was placed on hold in mid-March, but due to the nature of the sport, the Eagles Overwatch team was able to return to action in early June.
 
Since the restart, Winthrop Overwatch has earned one victory and two defeats, with the last of those coming on June 21st against Northeastern. The Eagles are 10-3 overall in Tespa Overwatch action dating back to last fall.
 
Winthrop will not be streaming any of this weekend's matches.  Follow @WinthropEsports (Twitter) for news on if any matches are streamed by opponent institutions.
