Winthrop Overwatch Returns to Tespa Action

Rock Hill, S.C. – After just over three months, Winthrop Overwatch is back in action in the Tespa Varsity Invitational Series against Maryville University Saturday at 6:00 pm.
 
The Eagles last Tespa matches were two wins against Harrisburg and Central Florida, but their season was put on hold due to the Coronavirus pandemic.  Saturday's match will be the resumption of the regular season with the playoffs taking place in July.
 
This will be Winthrop's third all-time matchup with Maryville in Overwatch. The Saints are 2-0 in the previous two meetings with the last one coming in the Tespa group stage back on October 12. 
 
ABOUT THE EAGLES
  • Winthrop Esports as a whole enters Saturday's match 13-2 this spring.
  • Winthrop Overwatch is 2-0 this spring.
  • The Eagles are 9-1 overall in Tespa action dating back to last fall with wins over: Harrisburg, Central Florida, Rutgers, Akron, Missouri, and Northeastern.
  • This will be the Esports program's first match since April 26th, when Winthrop League of Legends competed in the ASU GSV 2020 Finals.
