Eagles Sweep Big 10 Doubleheader

Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop's Rocket League team flexed their muscle once again on Thursday night, defeating Ohio State and Penn State in thrilling fashion.  The Eagles are now 4-2 in PlayVS competition this fall.

After a tough 3-2 defeat to the University of North Carolina last Thursday, Winthrop needed a bounce back performance to get back on the right track and Ohio State was first on the docket.  The Eagles and Buckeyes met back on September 19th in League of Legends, but this was their first meeting in Rocket League competition. In similar fashion to their previous matchup in League, Winthrop handled Ohio State with relative ease, winning 3-0.

Game two of Thursday's doubleheader marked the first time Winthrop and Penn State have met in any Esports competition.  The Eagles got off to a great start going up 2-0, before the Lions roared back to tie up the game at 2-2.  With the momentum on their side, Penn State went up early in the deciding match, but Winthrop rallied back to earn the 3-2 victory.

The Eagles will be back in action October 29th with their opponents being announced the day before. To watch replays of previous matches, visit Winthrop Esports' Twitch channel.
