SERIES/HISTORY v. CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
The Eagles and Buccaneers will meet for the 85th time in history on Saturday afternoon. Winthrop currently leads the series, 49-35. During the 2018-19 season, these teams split the series, each winning a game at home. The Eagles beat the Buccaneers, 57-52, at the Winthrop Coliseum behind 19 points from
Jah'Che Whitfield. When these teams faced off in Charleston, Winthrop fell to CSU, 67-57.
Anika Riley recorded a career-high 17 rebounds. The Eagles are 4-5 on the road this season and are 4-6 against the Buccaneers in the last 10 meetings.

Winthrop women's basketball is coming off a 74-63 home win against Longwood on Tuesday night. The Eagles were led by
Maleeah Langstaff who recorded a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds – a new career high in both categories. 14 of those 16 points came in the first half.
Jah'Che Whitfield (14) and
Kem Nwabudu (10) also finished in double figures. Whitfield is the team's leading scorer, averaging 11.2 points per game, while the Eagles lead the Big South in 3-point shooting at 34.1 percent and are second in the conference in field goal percentage (39.5) behind Longwood.
CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
The Buccaneers are coming off a 61-36 loss to the Campbell Camels on Tuesday evening. Carmella Walker led the offense with 12 points, while Tierra Steede tallied 10 rebounds. CSU is now 3-14 on the season, 1-7 in Big South Conference play. Their lone conference win came against UNC Asheville (11-6, 5-3 BSC), 60-48, behind 13 points from Sharita Godfrey, a 12 point, 10 rebound double-double from Carmella Walker and another 12 points from Teirra Steede. The Buccaneers will play host to the Eagles on Saturday afternoon and currently have a 2-7 home record.
500-REBOUND CLUB HAS A NEW MEMBER
Anika Riley eclipsed 500 career rebounds during Winthrop's game against Gardner-Webb on Monday, Jan. 6. The junior guard is the 18th player in Winthrop women's basketball history to record 500+ career rebounds. Riley is ranked seventh in the conference, averaging 6.5 boards a game.
