Box Score ROCK HILL, SC - In what was a back and forth affair from start to finish, Winthrop women's soccer saw Saturday's match with Campbell result in a 1-1 draw. After ending regulation with a goal apiece, the Big South rivals played two scoreless overtime periods to end with the resulting tie score. Winthrop is now 2-5-1 overall on the season (0-2-1 Big South) while Campbell moves to 5-3-2 on the season with a conference mark of 1-1-1.
After 40 minutes of back and forth scoreless soccer in the first half, Campbell broke the ice when reserve forward Rosie O'Neal snuck a left-footed shot past Eagle keeper
Ashlynn Harris to give the Camels a 1-0 lead. It was the only blemish on an outstanding day in goal for Harris, who finished the afternoon with 11 saves on 18 Camel shots.
After Campbell took a 1-0 lead to halftime, the Eagles evened the score in the 61st minute when
Allie Thomas crossed the ball into a streaking
Gabi Hull, who punched it past Campbell keeper Reaghan Duval for her third goal of the season to tie the game at one. Thomas was credited with the assist, her second of the season.
Saturday's match had no shortage of action, with the two teams combining for 45 shots and 26 shots on goal. However neither team was able to break the tie and the match ended in a draw for two teams that had aggressive offenses backed by excellent goaltending.
