Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop volleyball will play their second consecutive weekend at home, with matches on Friday and Saturday of this week. The Eagles have maintained a perfect 5-0 record on their home court, most recently with wins over Furman and Appalachian State last weekend. Overall, the Eagles are 8-3 on the season and are carrying a three-match win streak going into the opening weekend of Big South conference play.

A Look at Presbyterian College
Presbyterian holds a 5-8 record going into conference play with losses to Davidson, Wofford, and Morehead State, all teams that Winthrop played, and defeated, in the preseason. The Blue Hose have been led by right side/setter, Erin Cooke. Cooke has 2.91 kills per set, 4.52 kills per set, and ranks in the top ten in the conference for kills, aces, hitting percentage, and points.
Last season, the Blue Hose finished with a 10-17 record and did not qualify for the Big South Conference tournament. They did beat the Eagles twice last season, both in five set matches. The Eagles lead the all-time record with PC, 21-9.
A Look at Charleston Southern
Charleston Southern started the 2019 season 5-0 but have now won eight of their last nine matches. Outside hitter, Brooke Monssen, was named the Big South Player of the week after her performance last weekend. The senior tallied 70 kills in four matches, including a team high 22 kills against Jacksonville State. Monssen is second in the Big South for total kills and points.
The Eagles lead the all-time record with the Buccaneers, 67-19, including two wins in the 2018 regular season and a first-round win in the conference tournament.

Middle blockers
Makayla Doyle and
Morgan Bossler hold the top two spots in the conference for hitting percentage with .352 and .342, respectively. Bossler had double-digit kills in both matches last weekend with 13 and 10. Sophomore transfer,
Camila Gomez, had a team high 14 kills against Appalachian State. Kia Benitez remains an offensive force for the Eagles, racking up 15 kills against Furman and holding firm at 3.05 kills per set.
Hannah Lackey ranks in the top five in the Big South in digs with 4.02 digs per set.
