BUIES CREEK, NC— Winthrop fell to top-seeded Longwood 10-2 on day two of the 2019 Big South Conference Softball Championship presented by Musco Sports Lighting.

The Eagles are not eliminated and will be back in action on Friday at noon when they face the winner of the elimination game between third-seeded Campbell and sixth-seeded Radford, which is the final game of Thursday's action.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Eagles grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Blake Wallert drew a leadoff walk to get things started
- Morgan Lowers reached base safely and Wallert moved to second on an error followed by a sac bunt from Ashley Westbrooks to put two runners in scoring position
- Keleigh Romine stood in and drove in Wallert on a sacrifice fly to center
- Longwood answered with four runs in the bottom frame as Batten hit a two-run homerun for the lead
- Jacobsen and Powell provided RBI singles for a 4-1 advantage after an inning
- Tori Walker cut the Lancers lead in half with a 1-out solo homerun to left, her fifth of the season
- Longwood added two more runs in the bottom of the second with two outs for a 6-2 lead
- Kiley Majette took the loss in the circle as she tossed 0.2 innings allowing four runs on five hits and is now 9-14
EXTRA BASES
- Eagles are now 0-4 all-time against Longwood in the conference tournament
- Lowers hitting streak in conference tournament play came to an end at 11 games
- Romine had her fifth sacrifice fly of the season, tying Westbrooks for the most on the team as she's now has 25 RBI on the year after a total of 18 in her three seasons
