WINTHROP AT A GLANCE
Winthrop last played on March 23, picking up a 14-12 victory over Mercer. Earlier that week the Eagles downed Wofford 18-4 on the road. The two victories earned three Eagles Big South honors:
Alaina Girani,
Lauren Morris and
Mia Creighton. Morris leads the team with 29 goals and 43 points while Creighton has scored 22 and
McKenna Blick has added 20. Girani has allowed just shy of 13 goals this season while making 45 percent of her saves. Last week Girani also eclipsed the 600-save mark in her career.
SCOUTING CAMPBELL
Campbell opened conference play on Saturday with a 24-4 victory over Presbyterian. The Camels are 4-7 on the year and the victory snapped a three-game losing skid. The Camels are only averaging 10 goals per game this season and have been led by Melissa Placek with 19 goals while Annie Pazulski leads the team with 28 points on 13 goals and 15 assists. Lexie Patton has played the majority of minutes in goal, recording all but one decision. She has allowed 13 goals per game while making 44 percent of her saves.
ALL-TIME AGAINST CAMPBELL
Winthrop is 5-2 all-time against the Camels and 2-1 in Buies Creek. After Campbell took two contests from Winthrop in 2017, the Eagles rebounded to down the Camels at home last season.
WHAT'S UP NEXT
Winthrop will return home to host its first conference contest of the season Saturday as Gardner-Webb comes to Eagle Field for a 1 p.m. contest.
