WHAT'S AT STAKE
Winthrop's seeding and tournament scenario is already locked in going into Saturday's contest. The Eagles will be the eighth seed in the tournament and host a first-round game against Presbyterian, the ninth seed, on Tuesday, March 12. The Pirates have already secured a bye in the first round. A win for Hampton gives them the third seed in the tournament.
LAST TIME OUT
The Eagles and Pirates met in mid-January in the Winthrop Coliseum and Hampton came away with a 84-63 victory, its first all-time over Winthrop. The Eagles had three players score in double-figures against the Pirates but couldn't slow down the Hampton offense that shot 50 percent from the field for the game.
Kem Nwabudu and
Essence Cowan tied for the team lead with 15 points each.
SCOUTING CAMPBELL
Hampton is 15-13 on the year and 11-6 in the Big South but has dropped its last two contests to the top two teams in the league. The Pirates have three players averaging double figures this season. Ashley Bates leads the team and the Big South averaging 17.1 points per game. Laren VanArsdale is close behind, averaging 16.3 points per game.
WHAT'S UP NEXT
The official Big South Tournament bracket will be released following the conclusion of the regular season on Saturday. Winthrop will host Presbyterian in a first-round game on Tuesday, March 12 at 7 p.m. at the Winthrop Coliseum.
