Lacrosse Hosts Vermont Thursday at 11 a.m. at Eagle Field

ROCK HILL, SC – Coming off its first victory of the season, the Winthrop lacrosse team welcomes the Vermont Catamounts to Eagle Field Thursday morning for an 11 a.m. contest.

WINTHROP AT A GLANCE
The Eagles had a strong showing against Coastal Carolina on both ends of the field, defeating the Chanticleers 11-7.  Sophomore Lauren Morris led the team with four goals while freshman Lauren Asher added three points on two goals and one assist.  In goal, Alaina Girani made 11 saves in the victory.

SCOUTING VERMONT
Vermont enters Thursday's matinee with a 4-1 record, having won its last two contests after defeating East Carolina 18-9 on Sunday.  The Catamounts have been led by Jenna Janes and Elise Koehl who have scored 15 and 16 goals respectively.  Assisting on many of those tallies has been Alex Vignona who leads the team with 17 assists.  Maddy Kuras has played every minute in goal for the Cats, allowing just shy of nine goals per game while making 51 percent of her saves.

ALL-TIME AGAINST VERMONT
Thursday will be the second all-time meeting between the Eagles and Catamounts.  Winthrop won at home in 2015 by the score of 17-4.

WHAT'S UP NEXT
Following Thursday's contest, the Eagles will hit the road for their next two matchups, starting with Vanderbilt on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Nashville.
