Women's Basketball Travels to UNC Asheville Saturday For 2 p.m. Tip Against the Bulldogs

ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop women's basketball team looks to bounce back from a tough loss Tuesday night with a road game at UNC Asheville Saturday afternoon.

WINTHROP AT A GLANCE
Kem Nwabudu led the Eagles with 14 points and nine rebounds in Tuesday's setback at High Point.  Jah'Che Whitfield added 13 points, marking her eighth Big South contest in double-figure scoring.  Whitfield's 12.7 points per game in conference play is second amongst Big South freshmen.

SCOUTING UNC ASHEVILLE
UNC Asheville opened the conference season losing its first three contests but has since won five in a row and sits at 5-3 in Big South play and 10-9 overall.  The Bulldogs have been led this season by Sonora Dengokl who has averaged 15.1 points per game and 17.7 points per game in conference contests.  Jessica Wall has averaged 10.6 points per game while Brooke Jordan-Brown leads the team with 5.6 rebounds per contest.

ALL-TIME AGAINST UNC ASHEVILLE
Saturday will be the 74th all-time meeting between the Eagles and Bulldogs with UNC Asheville holding a 40-33 overall lead in the series.  The Bulldogs swept both contests from Winthrop last season and Winthrop's last win over Asheville came January 24, 2017.

WHAT'S UP NEXT
Winthrop will have the next week off before it rounds out its three-game road trip next Saturday, February 9 at 2 p.m. at Presbyterian against the Blue Hose.

WINTHROP SPORTS SHOW AT ROCO
Every Thursday at The Roasting Company throughout the basketball season will be the Winthrop Sports Show at ROCO hosted by the voices of the Winthrop Eagles Dave Friedman and Mike Pacheco. The two will sit down weekly with head coaches Pat Kelsey and Lynette Woodard as well as other selected guests throughout the season. The show is from 6-6:30 p.m. and airs live on 94.3 FM & 104.1 The Bridge.
