Rock Hill S.C. – Winthrop volleyball will travel to Seattle, W.A. to compete in the first round of the NCAA Volleyball Championships. This will be the first trip to the Big Dance since 2006. Winthrop advanced to the tournament with a three-set sweep of Campbell in the Big South Championship match. The Eagles drew the 8
th ranked Washington Huskies for the first-round; this will be the first match-up between the two teams in program history.

A Look At Washington
The Washington Huskies finished second in the Pac-12 with a 15-5 conference record. The Huskies lost their final match to in-state rival, Washington State, in five-sets. This season, Washington has notable wins over Wisconsin and Stanford. The four-set win over Stanford snapped a Pac-12 Cardinal win streak that went back to the 2017 season.
Kara Bajema leads the Huskies' offense with 4.46 kills per set and has recorded 20 plus kills in their last four matches. Bajema was named to the All-Pac-12 Team along with setter, Ella May Powell. Powell, a sophomore, is already ranks ninth in school history with 2,569 assists.
Catching Up With the Eagles
The Eagles finished the regular season a perfect 14-0 and swept their way through the conference tournament with three-set wins over Presbyterian and Campbell.
Siani Yamaguchi was named Tournament MVP and
Morgan Bossler and Nikkia Bossler joined Yamaguchi on the All-Tournament Team.
The Eagles currently ride a 12-match win streak and a 24-4 overall record; the Eagles have not lost a set in their last three matches.
