Fort Worth, Texas—Josh Ferguson scored a team-high 14 points as Winthrop fell 70-60 at Texas Christian, Wednesday night in non-conference men's basketball action.

FIRST HALF
- Eagles jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead as Josh Ferguson opened up the scoring a dunk off a nice feed from Micheal Anumba and then D.J. Burns Jr. scored inside
- Desmond Bane put the Horned Frogs on the scoreboard with a three, which started a 12-0 run as the Eagles went cold
- P.J. Fuller capped off the run as he scored on a layup in transition for a 12-4 lead
- Anumba ended the scoring drought that nearly stretched seven minutes to make it a five point game
- Neither team could get going offensively and both committed turnovers but TCU did take a 10-point lead with 3:17 left in the half as Jaedon Ledee knocked down a jumper for a 28-18 lead
- The lead stretched to 11 points , but the Eagles ended the half on an 8-2 run to trail 31-26 at the break
- Following a Chase Claxton dunk with 33 seconds left in the half, TCU's Bane had his shot with six seconds left go in and out as Hunter Hale boarded the miss and dribbled up court and hit a straight away three at the buzzer to make it a two possession game
- Eagles were only down five at halftime despite shooting 29 percent from the floor (3-of-16 from three)
SECOND HALF
- Hale opened the half burying a three on the team's second possession to make it a two point game, but Kevin Samuel answered to push the lead back to two possessions
- Ferguson made it a two point contest again as he scored while being fouled, but couldn't convert the free throw for the three-point play
- Grayer hit a another three, which started a 9-0 run to push the lead back to double digits
- Eagles did get within four points with 10:38 to play as Vaudrin found Claxton for an easy two as he was fouled, but missed the free throw to complete the three-point play
- TCU worked its way back to a double-digits for the remainder of the game after Fuller's layup in transition
- Eagles shot 35 percent from the floor in the second half while TCU made 57 percent

- Eagles finished the game shooting just 32 percent from the floor as they were 8-for-31 from three and 10-for-17 at the foul line
- TCU shot 48 percent from the floor, 6-for-25 from three and 8-of-17 at the foul line
- Eagles turned the ball over 17 times while forcing 16 turnovers and finished with a slight edge in points off turnovers, 17-16
- On the glass the Eagles grabbed 18 offensive boards, but were edged overall 42-41
