ROCK HILL, S.C. - Winthrop women's soccer looks ahead to to Big South matchups this week, as the Eagles will host Presbyterian (4-7, 3-1 Big South on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. kickoff and travel to Hampton Saturday to take on the Pirates (1-9-1, 0-3-1 Big South) in a 12:00 p.m. kickoff at Armstrong Stadium.
Winthrop is unbeaten in its last three matches, highlighted by a 4-1 win at Charleston Southern last Wednesday and a 1-0 home win over Longwood on Saturday. The Eagles also have the reigning Big South Defensive Player of the Week in
Keeley Leising, who scored the game winning goal against Longwood to give Winthrop its second Big South victory. Entering the week Winthrop is tied with Longwood for the fourth best Big South record at 2-2-1.
Presbyterian enters Wednesday's match trailing only High Point and Campbell in the Big South standings with a 3-1 conference mark. The last time out for the Blue Hose was a 2-0 home win over USC Upstate, with both of PC's goals coming from Morgan Hutchison. The last meeting between Winthrop and Presbyterian took place September 14, 2018 at Martin Stadium in Clinton, S.C. with the Eagles winning 2-0 behind two goals from
Allie Thomas.
Prior to Wednesday's match against UNC Asheville, Hampton holds a Big South record of 0-3-1 with the Pirates' last game being a 6-2 loss to first place High Point. The Eagles won the last meeting between the two teams, a 3-1 Winthrop victory at Eagle Field September 22, 2018. Winthrop's goals in that contest came from
