Carter, Fonda Finish T28 To Lead Eagles At Terrier Intercollegiate

SPARTANBURG, SC—Whitney Carter and Sabrina Fonda finished T28 to lead the Winthrop women's golf team at the 2019 Terrier Intercollegiate, Tuesday afternoon at The Carolina Country Club.

  • The Eagles moved up one spot in the final round to finish 12th
  • Sarah Funderburg shot a final round 75, moving up 16 slots for a T47
  • Whitney Carter and Sabrina Fonda each posted a final round 76 and each finished T28
  • Carter and Fonda moved up nine spots on the final day for Carter's third Top 30 finish of the season and Fonda's second time in the Top 30
  • Fonda has now shot 76 in the final round of all three 54-hole events this fall
  • As a team the Eagles posted a 308 in the final round, which is the second lowest score for the fall season
  • Winthrop finished 2nd in Par 5 scoring at (+4) as Wofford led at 3-over
  • Alexis Brindley led the Eagles in Par 3 scoring (+1), Carter led in Par 4 scoring (+6) and Sabrina Fonda led in Par 5 scoring (-1)
  • Fonda finished tied for second best Par 5 scoring while MaKenna Brindley tied for 3rd lowest at even par
