ROCK HILL, SC— Winthrop women's golf will step away from stroke play to compete in the 2019 Blue Hose Match Play Tournament. The event will take place at The Patriot Golf Club, which is the host of the 2020 Big South Championship.

Course: The Patriot Golf Club (Par 72 / 6,175 yards)
Format: Match Play (36-Hole Match Play on Monday, 18-Hole Match Play on Tuesday)
Tee Times: Monday – 9 a.m. shotgun / 2 p.m. – shotgun | Tuesday – 9 a.m. shotgun  
Tournament Field: Gardner-Webb, Longwood, Presbyterian College, Samford, The Citadel, UNC Asheville, USC Upstate, Winthrop

A GLANCE AT THE EAGLES

• Winthrop will have six golfers at the event and will open up against Gardner-Webb in match play
• The winner of the match between Winthrop and Gardner-Webb will take on the winner of USC Upstate and The Citadel for the second round
• Sophomore Sarah Funderburg leads the team in stroke average this season at 76.00 followed by Sabrina Fonda (79.38), Whitney Carter (79.50) and Alexis Brindley (79.63)
• Carter shot 77 in her last two rounds played at The Patriot while Funderburg's last two rounds have been 79-78
• This year's Big South Championship format changed to match the men's format from last year as the team's will play stroke play and then the Top 4 teams will compete in a match play format to crown a champion
