Box Score HAMPTON, VA - Two goals in each half were more than enough for Winthrop on Saturday, as the Eagles topped Hampton 4-1 on the road to secure their fourth straight win. The Eagles continue their climb up the Big South standings, improving to 6-5-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the Big South with the victory over the Pirates. 

After a few unsuccessful early chances, Winthrop got started on offense in the 18th minute when Morrison Trnavsky finished off a Keeley Leising free kick from the right wing. The goal was Trnavsky's first of the season, Leising recording her eighth assist. After Hampton scored to tie the game 1-1, Natalie Royaards volleyed in a perfect strike from outside the box to give the Eagles the lead back at 2-1. The goal was unassisted and was Royaard's fifth goal of the season. 

In the second half, the two teams played scoreless ball until the 77th minute when Alyssa Fernandez netted Winthrop's third goal of the afternoon. Fernandez was one on one with Hampton's keeper and chipped a shot over her head and across the line for the sophomore's first goal of the season. Clara Conboy later scored the exclamation point for the Eagles, connecting on a shot from the right wing for the senior's second goal of the year.

- Saturday's win was the fourth straight for Winthrop, matching the longest winning streak since the 2013 season, when the Eagles defeated High Point, VMI, UNC Asheville, and Coastal Carolina in succession.

- Saturday's match was the third time Winthrop has scored four goals or more in 2019, with the Eagles winning all three of those matches.
