Women's Basketball Begins Three-Game Stretch Tuesday at Home Against Charleston Southern

ROCK HILL, SC – Coming off a conference-opening victory Saturday, the Winthrop women's basketball team enters a tough three-game in five-day stretch starting Tuesday against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers at the Winthrop Coliseum.

WINTHROP AT A GLANCE
The Eagles are looking to snap a three-game losing skid Thursday at Charleston.  Winthrop continues to get solid production out of its young players.  Freshman Kem Nwabudu has averaged 9.5 points per game this season and has scored in double figures in three of the last four contests.  She is also tied for the team lead with 6.3 rebounds per game.  Anika Riley has had a strong sophomore campaign, averaging eight points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Charleston Southern comes to the Winthrop Coliseum Tuesday looking for its first Division I victory on the season.  The Buccaneers are 3-9 on the year and 0-1 in the Big South.  Three players have averaged double digits this season, led by Ke'Asia Jackson with 12.8 points per game.

USC Upstate, one of two newcomers to the Big South will come to Rock Hill on Thursday night at 7 p.m.  The Spartans are 4-8 on the season and 0-1 in the conference.  Upstate has only one Division I win this year.  Brianna Lewis has led the Spartans this year, averaging 20.1 points per game.

Radford will host the Eagles Saturday at 2 p.m. to round out the week.  The Highlander will play host to High Point Tuesday and travel to Hampton Thursday.  Coming into the week, Radford is 7-5 overall and 1-0 in the Big South.  The Highlanders are led by two double-digit scorers.  Savannah Felgemacher and Destinee Walker lead the team with 14.6 and 13.8 points per game respectively.

WHAT'S UP NEXT
After the three-game week, the Eagles will return to a typical two-game per week schedule starting Tuesday, January 22 with a home contest against the Hampton Pirates.

Every Thursday at The Roasting Company throughout the basketball season will be the Winthrop Sports Show at ROCO hosted by the voices of the Winthrop Eagles Dave Friedman and Mike Pacheco. The two will sit down weekly with head coaches Pat Kelsey and Lynette Woodard as well as other selected guests throughout the season. The show is from 6-6:30 p.m. and airs live on 94.3 FM & 104.1 The Bridge.
