Volleyball Hosts Presbyterian and Charleston Southern For Big South Matchups

Rock Hill, SC – The Eagles play their second and third home matches this week on Friday against the Presbyterian College Blue Hose and on Saturday against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers. The Eagles are coming off an 0-3 loss to Radford on Tuesday.

The Eagles started the season 2-0 with wins over Gardner Webb and High Point but took their first conference loss against Radford. Lily Leistiko has been big for the Eagles posting above .500 hitting efficiencies for the last two matches. She has 2.4 kills per set and 1 block per set in conference play. Siani Yamaguchi is in the top five for total assists and assists per set with 505 and 9.71. Phoebe Wu has been playing consistent defense with 12, 15, and 12 digs over the last three matches, 3.9 digs per set.

Presbyterian (2-0, 4-8) has posted two conference wins against Hampton (26-24, 24-26, 25-20, 25-23) and Campbell (27-25, 12-25, 25-16, 25-17). They are led offensively by Erin Cooke, 2.44 kills per set and .164, and defensively by libero Daley Gosnell, 4.25 digs per set. The all-time series between the Eagles and Blue Hose is 23-7 in favor of the Eagles. Winthrop beat PC twice in last year's regular season play with a 5 set win and a 3 set sweep.

Charleston Southern (1-1, 6-4) just snapped a 0-3 losing streak by beating Hampton in four sets (26-24, 25-20, 25-23 and 25-20) for their first conference win. They are led by Madison Malloch (Fr. OH) who has 3.18 kills per set and an efficiency of .225. The CSU libero, Madison Martini, is averaging 4.97 digs per set, second best in the Big South. The Eagles swept CSU in both of last year's regular season match ups and are leading the all-time series 69-17.
