Against Gardner Webb, the Eagles were led by middle blockers
Makayla Doyle (Jr.) and
Lily Leistiko (Fr.). The pair both tallied 6 blocks and had 8 and 7 kills respectively; Leistiko added a hitting efficiency of .358 to the stat sheet. While Doyle and Leistiko control the net defensively,
Carlie Skelton (Sr.) continues to lead the back row defensive efforts. She tallied 19 dig in the four set match for 4.75 digs per set.
High Point is 5-7 overall and 1-0 in Big South Conference play. They played a tough preseason schedule with matches against No. 2 Texas and No. 8 Wisconsin. Senior middle, and preseason Player of the Year, Molly Livingston has been leading the Panthers with 2.77 kills per set and an efficiency of .337. After beating new Big South member USC Upstate 3-1 on Tuesday, they will play their second conference game tonight at 7:00 p.m. against Gardner Webb.
The Eagles have won 37 matches over the Panthers and have lost 18, including two matches last season.
