Rock Hill, SC – Winthrop volleyball non-conference continues with a trip to Knoxville, TN to compete in the Rocky Top Invitational hosted by the University of Tennessee. The Eagles will play three games over the two-day tournament including the host team on Friday night at 7 p.m.

Last weekend the Eagles went 0-4 at the Hyatt Regency Invitational Tournament in Atlanta, GA. Two of those losses came from Georgia Tech and Georgetown University, both are Power 5 conference schools.
Sydney Gunter (RS) was named to the All-Tournament team after registering 42 kills and 3.2 kills per set for the weekend. She had a weekend high 16 kills and hit a .231 in a five-set loss to Idaho State.
Tennessee had a 2017 conference record of 5-13 and 12-15 overall. They went 3-0 in the first weekend, including a four-set win over Michigan State. Tennessee was picked to finish 10
th out of 13 teams in SEC preseason conference polls.
Indiana State went 2-1 on the opening weekend which featured a four-set win over former Big South Conference foe, Liberty University. In 2017 their overall record was 11-21 and Missouri Valley Conference record was 8-10. They were picked to finish 6
th in the 2018 preseason conference polls.
University of North Florida opened their season with three straight losses at a tournament hosted by the University of Wyoming. They finished the 2017 season 5-9 in conference and 13-19 overall. UNF was picked to finish 4
th in the Atlantic Sun Conference this season.
