SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Winthrop is unbeaten in its first three games of the season for the first time in program history and only the fifth time since the program's inception in 2003 that the squad has won two of its first three games.
Part of the success can be attributed to the success the Eagles have found early in the matches. Winthrop has scored the first goal in all three games with its latest coming in the 17
th minute. The Eagles are coming off a 3-2 road victory over East Tennessee State Monday evening where
Gabi Hull's two goals and
Keeley Leising's penalty kick propelled the Eagles to the victory.
Hull has scored three goals through three games this season which is already a single-season high for the junior. Leising along with
Natalie Royaards and
JoJo Taylor each have one goal.
SCOUTING NORTH FLORIDA
The North Florida Ospreys are 1-3 on the young season, having defeated UNC Asheville Sunday afternoon. The Ospreys have managed only three goals this season, split evenly between three players. Rhiannon Connelly has played every minute in goal, allowing seven goals while making 15 saves.
SCOUTING JACKSONVILLE
The Jacksonville Dolphins are winless through four games on the season and will meet Manhattan Friday night before hosting the Eagles Sunday. The Dolphins have netted only one goal this season in a 2-1 loss at Pittsburgh Sunday.
SERIES HISTORIES
Winthrop and North Florida met for the first time last year at Eagle Field with the Ospreys coming away with a 1-0 victory on a 5
th-minute goal. The Eagles and Dolphins will meet for only the second time. The two sides met in 2010 with Jacksonville winning 3-0.
WHAT'S UP NEXT
Winthrop returns home next weekend to host Alabama A&M Friday and College of Charleston on Sunday.
