ATLANTA, GA – In the first match of the day the Eagles dropped a tough five set thriller to Abilene Christian University. The final set went down to the wire with Abilene eventually prevailing in the end 15-13. The tournament continued with a three set loss to Georgia Tech.
Abilene Christian
The first set was dominated by the Eagles and the rest of the match saw back and forth sets with no team able to indefinitely pull away. Freshman outside hitter,
Emily Wunder, was dominate in the fifth set and finished the match with a team high 12 kills. Junior outsider hitter,
Jace Kleffner, paced the Eagles for most of the match finishing with 11 kills.
Siani Yamaguchi, the junior setter, ran the offense and finished with 45 assists and a few key kills of her own.
Carlie Skelton and
Hannah Lackey led the defense with 15 digs apiece.
Georgia Tech
The Eagles came up just short against Georgia Tech losing 3-0 with the deciding third set going 27-29 in favor of Georgia Tech. Lou Rosario had 16 kills to lead the Eagles and transfer middle blocker,
Makayla Doyle, had a .350 hitting percentage off seven kills and no errors.

The Hyatt Regency Invitational continues tomorrow with the Eagles taking on Idaho State University at 9:30 a.m. and finishing up with Georgetown at 2:00 p.m.
